Study purpose: to study the clinical and pathogenetic features of lacunar infarctions of the brain with symptomatic and asymptomatic courses, to develop the prediction criteria, treatment options and methods of prevention. On the basis of the integrated dynamic study there are discovered the peculiarities of the risk factors, clinical course, cognitive functions, structural changes in the brain and the state of internal carotid artery wall in patients with symptomatic and asymptomatic courses of lacunar infarction of the brain.
