Purpose: definition of «a world-famous person»; compilation of the list of world-famous people, information about whom can be contained in the unique documents of the National Archival Holdings. Methods of the research: classification method; analysis and synthesis; informational; comparative, structural-systematic; biographical and others. Theoretical and practical results: were analyzed reference publications, scientific researches, publications of the documents of the National Archival Holdings, experience of archival institutions on identification of documents to refer them to the unique and the experience of some foreign countries; was provided the definition of the term «a world-famous person»; was set out criteria for determining the world famous persons; was enclosed the list of world famous people, information on whom can be contained in the unique documents of the National Archival Holdings, indicating surname, name, patronymic name, position and his contribution to world history, culture, science and other areas of human activity. Novelty of the research: research on this topic had not been previously carried out. Scope of implementation: the list is intended for the use of archival institutions and individuals conducting the identification of the documents that may be attributed to the unique, and in agreeing the lists of unique documents of the Central Appraisal Control Commission in the Archival Service of Ukraine. Efficiency of implementation: results of the study will contribute to the identification of documents that can be attributed to the unique and the inclusion of such documents to the State Register of Cultural Heritage.
