The object of research is the sphere for heat supply of settlements of Ukraine. The aim is to finalize of the draft of the National Strategy for heat supply of settlements of Ukraine, whose main objective is the creation and implementation of effective policies for reliable, quality and social available ensuring population, budget and social sphere by heat, hot water and cold air to create a comfortable environment for living and working conditions and ensuring the energy security of Ukraine. Due to the recent events taking place in Ukraine, the current status of the draft National Strategy for heating settlements in Ukraine were lighted. The main steps of the implementation of its main objectives are presented. The accented, that the main mechanism for implementing the National Strategy for heat supply of Ukraine is the development and implementation of the five-year regional program of modernization of communal Heat Power Engineering. Given the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU and the desire of Ukraine's entry into the common European space, National Strategy is aimed at full harmonization and implementation of energy legislation of Ukraine and the EU. To this end are shown a list of the main EU directives of recently in sphere of Heat Power Engineering and energy saving, which will soon be introduced into Ukraine.
