The world experience of efficient production technology of traditional natural gas and unconventional natural (shale) gas from shale clay rocks, coal beds, and more. It is proved that the increase in proven reserves of natural gas is a strategic objective of the gas industry of our country. It is shown that the expected resources of shale gas in Ukraine are estimated at 1200 billion m3, resource of the perspectives tight gas reservoirs in the central and southeastern part of the Dnieper - Donets basin is 8,500 billion m3. There are the significant inferred resources of coal bed methane - 12000 - 25400 billion m3, due to that Ukraine is ranked fourth in the world. The specificity of the extraction of unconventional gas, especially shale and tight gas reservoirs is the need for a large number of hydraulic fracturing in large areas. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out a systematic assessment of the possibilities for its production, considering first hydrogeological and environmental factors, and technical capabilities of its operations fracturing, associated infrastructure, and so on.
