The research object: traditional calendar ritualism of Rivnenske Polissia in the 1-st part of the XX cent. and its structural and functional and territorial parts, which are mapped in the region. The research objective includes complex historical-and-ethnographic and mapping research of the calendar ritualism as an integral part of the traditional spiritual culture that will promote covering the problems of Ukraine and its regions ethnocultural history in space and time, as well as the problems of preservation of cultural heritage of the territory injured by the Chornobyl disaster. The structure and content of customs, rituals, prohibitions, beliefs, as well as folk festival terminologies connected with notable dates and calendar year periods are discussed in the study on the basis of longstanding ethnographic expeditions. The prorated ceremonial phenomena became the subject of thematic maps developing with the help of determination of their territorial variability and classification allocation. This in turn made possible to characterize peculiarities of geographic allocation of the explored phenomena, their local complexes and variants within the region, to provide historical interpretation of the mapping results. The methodological bases of work are the principles of historicism and systemacity in the exploration of traditional folk culture that was reflected in interdependent and seamless use of complex of the research methods: comparative-to-ethnographic, structural, typological and mapping. The academic novelty of the study is in the fact that complex historical-to-ethnographic and mapping research of the calendar ritualism of Rivnenske Polissia in the 1-st part of XX cent has been proceeded for the first time. The thematic atlas, which consists of 92 maps concerning various forms and elements of calendar traditions: customs, ritual procedures, attributes, participants' contingent and ritual performance locus, prohibitions, beliefs, folk festival terminology etc., has been presented for the first time. The mighty corpus of new fund material on calendar ceremonialism collected during ethnographic expeditions in 1997-2003 yrs. has been introduced to the scientific turnover.
