Formal-logic and system-structural methods were used to investigate and improve conceptual framework of the studied subject, to classify Ukrainian law enforcement agencies, to investigate the structure of Ukrainian law enforcement system and structure of administrative and legal status of law enforcement bodies. Sociological and statistical methods were used to investigate the current state of organizational and legal support of Ukrainian law enforcement bodies. The use of historical method made it possible to investigate the activity of law enforcement bodies at different stages of Ukrainian statehood development and to identify characteristic features of their development. The practical significance of the results is that they represent scientific- theoretical and practical interest: -in research sphere - main provisions and conclusions of research could be used as the basis for further elaboration of theoretical and legal issues for the development of Ukrainian law enforcement bodies; -in law-making - a number of proposals on making amendments and additions to the legal acts, which regulate the activity of law enforcement agencies, was formulated as the result of research; -in the educational process - research materials may be used during teaching the disciplines "Administrative Law", "Organization of Judicial and Law-enforcement bodies".
