The Object of study - archaeological significant sites located in the vicinity of the medieval Chornobyl within the Pripyat River watershed and its affluent Uzh and Teteriv rivers. The purpose of the research - identifying and fixation of the archaeological significant sites of the exclusion zone and radio contaminated areas, mapping of the archaeological significant sites with their further certification for inclusion to the Ukrainian State Register of Immovable Monuments. The research methods - archaeological exploration, graphic and photo fixation of the identified archaeological significant sites, analytical description of lifting material, special methods of fixation and archaeological dating of archaeological sites (typological , stratigraphic and radio -carbon methods), scientific study of the revealed archaeological monuments and the inventory cards formation. In 2010-2012 the comprehensive archaeological exploration in the vicinity of the medieval Chernobyl town within the Prypiat River watershed and its affluent Uzh and Teteriv rivers took place during which the possible location of the hem of the medieval Chornobyl town has been investigated, the Chornobyl settlement edges were specified; 32 evacuated villages and Poliske settlement of the exclusion zone as well as 11 villages of the Ivankiv district, Kyiv region with their surroundings had been explored. During this time, 42 archaeological significant sites (including 3 mounds) were discovered, the condition of 14 previously known sites checked. More than 1,100 pieces of ceramics of different times, more than 700 chalcedony products, 2 ceramic fences, 2 glass and 1 stone bead were found and collected. During the works, 66 pits were laid, photofixation of identified sites took place. All the significant sites were mapped and recorded using GPS navigator. The scientific inventory of collected artefacts was performed. The results of the research obtained will be used while formation of the Museum-archive of Ukrainian Polissia folk culture.
