The research objective consists in that on the basis of achievements of legal science, the analysis and synthesis of law-enforcement activity of bodies of the public fiscal service, bodies of pre-judicial investigation, prosecutor's office and vessels of Ukraine, the analysis of the domestic and foreign legislation, to open the theoretical and practical problems arising at investigation of crimes in the sphere of the taxation; to open the maintenance of forms of counteraction to disclosure and investigation of the studied category of crimes and the direction of its overcoming; to define the main directions of criminalistic prevention of crimes in the sphere of the taxation, in the context of prospect of entry of Ukraine into the European Union and developments of the relations with the countries of the foreign and neighboring countries. Using gnoseological approach, performers relied on domestic and foreign experience of legal science and practice. A methodological basis of research was set of general scientific and especially legal methods of research which were used, complementing each other taking into account specifics of a subject of research work. Among such historical and legal, formal and dogmatic, comparative and legal, the system and structural analysis, statistical and other methods. As the subject of scientific research generally has methodical and applied character, its performers worked on development of the corresponding terminology, improvement of legislative base, improvement of a technique of investigation of crimes in the sphere of the taxation, introduction of results of researches in educational process and practical activities.
