As a results of the project squaraine dyes were synthesized, their complexes and conjugates with proteins (bovine albumin, BSA) and a donor-acceptor FRET pairs thereof were created. The dependence of the spectral-luminescent, photophysical and photochemical properties squaraines, their complexes and conjugates on the dye molecular structure was investigated. F?rster distances and efficiency of energy transfer in the donor-acceptor pairs of squaraines in solutions, complexes and conjugates were defined. It was shown that squaraine dyes pairs are promising tools for studies of biological systems by FRET.
