The technique does not require the use of high performance liquid chromatography, and the use of chromatography on thick layer plates of silica gel (0.5 mm) allows to obtain an extract with a high concentration of Fc without preconcentration of samples. The technique can be used to determine Fc content in freshly picked seaweed and storm emissions. There is developed and improved method for producing fucoxanthin extracts with high concentrations of active ingredients to 1-5 %. Thus there is no need to use chromatographic methods as in other studies which leads to significant savings in time and reagents. The final extract may be used as medical-preventive additive.
