The aim is to study the kinetics of the oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural catalysed nitroxyl radicals and the regioselectivity of the oxidation . The catalytic activity of various systems has been investigated by measuring amount of the absorbed oxygen . The reaction products were studied by NMR spectroscopy. It was shown that the main product of the oxidation in the presense of N- hydroxyphthalimide / Cu(NO3)2*3Н2O is 2,5-diformylfuran . In contrast to known methods of oxidation reaction proceeds with high yield and selectivity under mild conditions.
