Purpers: To create a database of documentation and registration materials about the desplacements and losses of historical collections (books, manuscripts, archival, museum collections) which became a part of the Lviv branch of the Library of the Academy of Sciences of USSR during World War II and the postwar period; their movement to other institutions in Ukraine and abroad. To investigate the fate of these collections. To find out the current state of Ukrainian cultural heritage and its preservation problems. To prepare to edition publications of documents, esseys, catalogs and articles. To develope methods of scientific descriptions and pasportisation of historical collections of V. Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv. Methods: basic and special methods of historical research, as well as historical sources , archival studies, bibliography, art, prosopography analysis; studies of historiography, literature and electronic sources; identification and analysis of various types of documentary sources in Ukrainian and foreign libraries and archives; archaeographical studies of documents and materials, preparing them for publication. The department is working on the scientific description of different historical libraries, archives, some manuscript and art collections of Galicia. It creates a database of historical collections in the repositories of the V. Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv and moved during and after the World War II . Results of research : The second volume of documents and materials under the title "Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv: removing and losses of its collections in 1946-1980 's " is prepared for edition. This work contents therefore 375 documents on 596 pages. A foreword is written (30 pp.). A documentation-information database of digital and paper copies, their classification and description is preparing. The planned work for preparation of 10 monographs is realized. The methodology of description and pasportisation of historical collections of Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv is created. Database of historical collections is formed. To the end of 2013 371 historical collections were described: 87 institutional, 284 - personal and family libraries, archives and individual collections. Databases of Ucrainica at Ossolineum in Wroclaw and Library of the Greek Catholic Chapter in Przemysl are formed. Various aspects of the study were discussed in 20 scientific publications (13 published articles and encyclopedic slogans and 6 submitted for publication). The results were tested on 8 presentations at scientific conferences and seminars; they were actively introduced to the scientific community in Ukraine and abroad.
