Objective: to create a database of obituaries and biographical materials published in Galician periodicals of the late 19th - first half of 20th c. Principles of research: objectivity, comprehensiveness, history, authenticity. Methods of research — bibliographic and descriptive complex analize. Research involved the creation of source database eminent personalities of Halychyna: identification and systematization of obituaries and bibliographical materials, putting them into scientific circulation. Results: in 200-2012 publications from "Galichanyn" (1893-1913), "Ruslan" (1901-19011), "Pravda" (1927-1939), "Vpered" (1918-1919, 1920), "Dyakіvsky Prapor" (1936), "Zhittya Kholmshchyny i Pіdlyasha" (1928), "Zhovkіvskі visti" (1941), "Zborіvskі vіsti" (1933-1938, 1941), "Nedіlya" (1928-1939), "Rada" (1926-1934) were analysed.
