The aim of work - performing a review of existing gradient-free methods for finding the extreme of functions of several variables and the numerical implementation of these methods. Research methods - methods of nonlinear programming. A review of the literature focused on the application of non-gradient algorithms for the extreme of function of many variables for solving the optimization problems of different types of equipment was carried out. Appropriate conclusions about the specific application of such methods to the solution of problems of aerodynamic optimization of gas-turbine engines compressor rows. The most effective methods were selected and their numerical implementation was made in order to conduct further research to assess the feasibility of their use in the development of a hybrid algorithm for solving the problems of aerodynamic optimization of gas turbine engines compressor rows. The comparative testing of selected methods and the evaluation of convergence of the Nelder - Mead method depending on the dimensionality of the optimization problem with a set of standard test functions was made.
