Nine independent phosphinothricin- and glyphosate-resistant regenerants of cabbage, 18 calli lines, and 6 lines of regenerated maize plants resistant to phosphinothricin were obtained. The methods of biolistic and Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of cereals in vitro were worked out. The optimum conditions for Agrobacterium- mediated transformation of wheat in planta were established. There were 1468 seeds collected as a result of transformation of 50 ears. The evaluation of new vectors with genes for herbicide tolerance was performed in plant genetic transformation experiments.
