Purpose of research is development and assessment of efficiency of methods aimed for correction of digital television images distorted by impact of atmospheric factors. Methods of research are mathematical modeling of image formation in presence of atmospheric factors, model experiments using computer and experimental research. The contrast correction method of digital television images that suggests processing of one image without any additional information about distortions is developed. Method could be considered as modification of adaptive histogram equalization and takes into account non-uniform impairment of local contrast of distorted images. Model and natural experiments were performed. Applied software was developed. On the basis of experimental results the comparative assessment of efficiency of processing methods, based on application of model of light scattering on aerosol particles, and developed correction method was made.
