The purpose of research: the definition of the current state and trends of eutrophication of north-western Black Sea shelf waters (NWSH BS), on the basis of individual and complex abiotic and biotic indicators of the marine environment. Research methods: traditional methods of analytical compilation and statistical analysis, which are based on the environmental studies of NWSH BS carried out by Ukrainian Scientific Centre of Ecology of the Sea in 2001-2013, involving satellite data, the data of the State Hydrometeorological Service of Ukraine and the literary data. Integral assessment of trophic levels and water quality was carried out according to index E-TRIX. Research results: we define modern trends of biogenic substances in the waters NWSH BS, reduction of phosphate and total phosphorus and mineral forms of nitrogen. Tendencies of reducing nutrient inputs of total phosphorus, nitrite nitrogen and ammonia nitrogen runoff from the Danube were registered. According to E-TRIX index a tendency of improvement the water trophy quality in the Odessa region was revealed. High trophic levels of water remain in the areas of influence of the rivers, primarily Danube.
