For assessment of serviceability and risk of fracture of materials in hydrogen-contained environments the special diagrams were constructed, which contain three characteristic zones: safe exploitation, exploitation with predicted growth of existed defects and zone of brittle fracture risk. The engineering evaluations of safe operation of pipelines with crack-like defects in hydrogen-contained environments of different composition were made. In particular, the effect of hydrogen concentration in the bulk of metal on strength of pipelines was shown. The safe values of defect size were calculated depending on their shape and the hydrogen concentration in the bulk of metal. The received results have the direct practical applications whereas the differential evaluation of the effect of detected defects on durability of structures can be done depending on the level of material hydrogenation.
