Both stress types induced moderate reaction of the immune system of the outbred mice. The most substantial observation was a cytopenic reaction of thymus and spleen followed by significant organ weight and cell number decreasing, as well as a decline of lymph node cell number in S-phase of the mitotic cycle. Number of antibody-producing cells in the spleen, hemolysins and hemagglutinins in the blood, severity of the DTH, phagocytic activity of macrophages and blood levels of various types of leukocytes were unchanged, though at trends the negative effects of stress can be seen. Proliferative activity of thymic MSCs in culture and their ability to form CFU-F under acute and prolonged stress were also unchanged, although a tendency to cell functional activity decline has been observed.
