In particular, persistent peripheral inflammation produced dramatic increase in calcium permeability of AMPA receptor. Such increase in functional expression of Ca2 + permeable AMPA receptors occurs at synapses and in extrasynaptic membranes SG neurons of the spinal cord and plays an important role in the maintenance of thermal hyperalgesia in rats with peripheral inflammation. The molecular mechanism of increasing Ca2 + permeability of synaptic AMPA receptors in the spinal cord neurons based on the internalization of AMPA receptor GluR2 subunit caused by peripheral CFA-induced inflammation.
