It was shown that these C60-Dx complexes have shown high efficiency of their action both in vitro (towards different tumor cell lines) and in vivo (on murine Lewis carcinoma model), which was 1.5 -2 times higher than doxorubicin in free form. Antitumor effect of fullerene-doxorubicin systems was characterized by more intense induction of apoptosis in target cells compared to native doxorubicin, because of targeted delivery of doxorubicin towards tumor cells by C60 fullerene. The obtained results indicate on completely new physical and chemical properties of these nanocomposites, which are much more effective compared to parental compounds.
