The purpose of work is complex research of the radiation-enhanced processes in zircon in connection with the decision of geochronological problems and study of quantity and distribution of rare-earth elements in zircons. The mechanisms of radiation damage of zircon were studied with computer simulation methods. Close overlap of displaced atoms cascades was studied. Model of zircon amorphization have been worked out using Monte-Carlo method. Obtained results show that there is linear dependence between crystallinity degree and crystallite size in the interval of fa=0.3-0.7 . It is related to the percolating transition at which amorphous areas already begin to be interconnected. By means of amorphization model the amorphization degree of some specimens of zircon from Yastrubetskyi Zr - REE ore manifestation has been calculated using XRD data. It was shown that a crystallinity degree changes with a depth. Obtained values of amorphization degree of zircon consistent with the expected dose of irradiation. It confirms correctness of our model, and also specifies on that the amorphization of zircon structure are related mainly to the irradiation. The results of this research can be used for decision of problems, related to the choice of zircon specimens for dating of geological objects and for search of rare-earth elements.
