It is shown that polarizationally dependent response of polarization-sensitive media of layered crystals of the lead diiodide type and of natural and artificial molecular crystals of the protein and benzol type can be used as the basis for realization of polarization-guided optical bistability. This presents an alternative approach to generation of the systems of recording and storing optical data.
