Methods of investigation - novel methods, in particular quantum-mechanical (QM), of the computer simulation of a high level of complexity and Bader's topological analysis of the electron density (QTAIM). It is shown that the ionization mechanism of transitions does not guarantee any advantages over other mechanisms presented in the literature. However, the protonation/deprotonation of the bases of any canonical nucleoside significantly disturbs the DNA-like conformation of the latter.
