Objects of the research: nitrous oxide emissions in the atmosphere. Purpose: to develop guidelines to determine the prevalence rates of nitrous oxide for medical purposes. Methods: statistical, analytical. From the literature it is known that nitrous oxide emissions remains in atmosphere of about 114 years, and then removed, mainly by the collapse in the stratosphere. Effect of nitrous oxide, which is used in medical institutions as an inhalation anesthetic, on global warming is estimated at 0.1%. The work developed resulted in a form for data collection of the use of nitrous oxide and other ozone-depleting substances in medical institutions. It allows to obtain the following information: the name of the medical institution, the amount of nitrous oxide use, gas producer and some technological issues. The data from all regional health departments have been obtained and analyzed, a comparative analysis of calculating methods of nitrous oxide use for medical purposes in different countries and a calculating technique of indicators of nitrous oxide use for medical purposes has been developed. Methodical recommendations have been worked out. The recommendations for the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Health Care and other authorized institutions to solve problems related to emissions of greenhouse gases, which are used for medical purposes have been formulated.
