Objective information was obtained, what enables better understanding of the nature of periodontitis; some mechanisms of pathogenesis of dystrophic-inflammatory changes of periodontal diseases were investigated, adequate pathogenetically grounded treatment strategy was elaborated including medications with different mechanisms of action, as well as their combinations. Rehabilitation measures in patients with odonto-periodontal pathology have been improved, maintenance care (from two to four times a year) and optimal treatment- hygienic means were recommended.
