The main approaches to assessing the strength of polymer materials are analyzed. By modeling a hollow thin-walled element white the orthotropic shell the method of evaluation of the stress-strain state (SSS) of a cellular construction is proposed and the corresponding system of shell type equations for obtaining the relevant forces and moments is modified. The methods of SSS evaluation of cylindrical cellular structures was verified. For this purpose the appropriate experiments were carried out and a comparison of theoretical and experimental results was done. The recommendations for long-term and reliable operation of the main cellular pipe constructions (long cellular pipe placed in the soil; non-pressure tank, layer vertically into the soil; the cellular pipe at the given internal pressure) are developed.
