We analyze the historical and international political processes both on theoretical and methodological level and show their interdependence. Further, we identify the nature of the relationship between historically consecutive systems of contemporary international relations. We outline and characterize the fundamental drivers that played the key role in formation of the modern system of international relations. We conceptually examine the likelihood of transformation of the modern international relations into a multipolar system. Our recommendations outline the main directions and methods for adapting the Ukrainian foreign policy to the contemporary reality of international relations.
