The study of the existing methods preparation of water and sediment samples and extraction methods was conducting. For the analysis of sea water samples is proposed solid phase extraction method phthalates with using membrane discs. The laboratory investigations for selection of organic solvents and their mixtures for extraction of phthalates from marine sediment samples by Soxhlet extraction method were carried. It is shown that the best results in the extraction of phthalates from sediment samples were obtained when using mixture dichloromethane : methanol. It is proposed to carry out the recovery of sulfur compounds from the sediment samples during the extraction by addition of elemental copper in the sediment samples before extraction. As an instrumental method of analysis of phthalates proposed chromato-mass-spectrometric method, which provides a highly efficient separation of the sample (gas chromatography) and low limits of detection and identification of individual compounds.
