A monitoring system of traction substations equipment (MSTSE), methods and test program are developed. This system can significantly improve the efficiency, reliability and safety of traction substations and rail transport respectively. According to the technical documentation a prototype of MSTSE is produced. The monitoring system implements the functions of monitoring and diagnosing the state of the main technological equipment, tracking of modes change, ensure the rapid analysis of emergency, warning of the possibility of crashes, determine the service life of the equipment and fault location on the lines of electric railways. The results have been implemented in the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine "Ukrzaliznytsia". The MSTSE prototype was installed into trial operation at the traction substation "Iskorost" of South-Western Railway that confirmed the effectiveness of the established system.
