The research is aimed at creating methods and devices for anisotropic media research in biology and technology. The research method includes theoretical and experimental studies of the process of interaction of the electromagnetic radiation with anisotropic crystalline and biological media. Analogues of Fresnel formulas for reflected and refracted waves at interfaces between an isotropic and uniaxial crystal media and between an uniaxial crystal and isotropic media were derived. The problem of electromagnetic wave propagation through a boundary between two transparent uniaxial crystals was solved analytically for the first time. Based on these general formulas the mathematical description of the electromagnetic wave propagation through isotropic and anisotropic layers of the retina higher animals were done. Computer simulations of these processes were conducted. The optical unit of the digital holographic interference microscope (DHIM) was improved. The software for the interferohram processing allowing to combine the holographic polarization contrast and the holographic interference contrast methods was developed. The software was used for obtaining three-dimensional images of anisotropic microscopic objects and measuring their geometrical characteristics. The DHIM was used to study NaCl microcrystals, microscopic biological objects taken from samples of natural water reservoirs, and morphological changes of rat red blood cells under intoxication caused by heavy metal salts.
