Karazin popup.description2 The aim of the work is research and development of techniques intended for effective control of the heat-transfer agent leakages from the 1st contour in the steam generators as well as gaseous aerosol outbursts at Ukrainian atomic power stations (APS). The research object is gamma-radiation induced by radio-active components of the heat-transfer agent and gaseous aerosol outbursts from water-to-water power reactor (WWPR) at power generating units, research of which allows to prevent emergency situations, the equipment contamination, and to control the gaseous aerosol outbursts into the environment at APS. The research method is a computer simulation of radiation propagation, influence of the detector parameters on the photon detection efficiency, as well as distribution calculations of the energy absorbed in the detectors, which are an ideal approximation of the signal measured with a real device. Researches on registration efficiency of nitrogen 16 in the steam generator of the WWPR-1000 reactor were carried out. Simulation of radiation transport from the steam generator volume into the detector system was carried out using Monte Carlo method (in the MCNP and PENELOPE packages). A technique designed to essentially speed up the calculations due to increase of the number of "virtual detectors" arranged around the radiating steam generator was developed. Optimization of the detection systems on the basis of NaI scintillators and CdTe semiconductors was carried out. It is shown that because of small sizes of the detectors based on CdTe, they are less effective than the scintillators based on NaI, when defining corrosive and impurity activity of nuclides with E? > 2 МеВ. Several versions of cylindrical detectors (of permanent volume) with different diameter-to-depth ratios as well as their arrangement relative to the steam generator were analyzed. It is shown, that when the volume increase is possible, the detector thickness should be restricted, and to improve the efficiency of 16N registration, the detector diameter should be increased. Technique for calculation of dose loadings from live-steam pipe-lines and a system of gaseous purification were developed. A test bench of large-scale volume sources was modified for radiation simulation generated by the live-steam pipe-line and by the system of APS gaseous aerosol outbursts.
