Research aim: the study of biological diversity of natural ecosystems as a basis for optimizing the network of nature reserve areas of Ukraine. Novelty of the work: a) for the first time were studied in detail Mycoflora on nature reserves and national parks in the Ukrainian Carpathians; identified 665 species, one species recorded for the first time in Europe, 3 species are described as new to science; audit of Myxomyceta for Tubifera ferruginosa-complex will describe 8 taxas new to science. 2 described as new to science subspecies Tubifera ferruginosa; identified localities sozological significant indicator species of fungi and the Carpathians; studied the general laws of development of wood-destroying fungi in primordial beech forests; b) proved the feasibility of grazing and controlled burning of vegetation in the steppe ecosystems as methods of maintaining diversity; allocated reference invertebrate community in grassland steppe of ravine type; defined of indicator species for stable state steppe ecosystem; a list sozological significant areas was completed; a comparative analysis of spider communities in upland oak forests; c) data about a structure of the bird communities of the forest-park zone of Kharkiv; g) annotated check-lists of spiders, fish, birds and mammals for the objects of natural reserve network; d) development of proposals for the expansion of existing National parks and for the creation of new National and Regional Landscape Parks; e) the List of the Regional rare species was completed. The results of work were sent to Kharkiv Regional Administration of nature conservation in Ukraine and to conservation institutions such as Karpathian Biosphere Nature Reserve, National Nature Parks "Dvorichanskyi", "Getmansky", "Gomilshansky" in order to make a report on nature monitoring.
