Registration Date 27-02-2015 Organization Institute of Surface Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 It has been established that during the synthesis of anticorrosion pigment with "core-shell" structure by heat treatment of the mechanical mixture of spherical SiO2 particles of about 7 nm diameter and microcrystalline MoO3 at 400-600 °C its self-dispersion occurs which is accompanied by the formation of molybdenum-oxide structures on SiO2 surface. It has been shown that the use of fumed SiO2 with apparent surface area of 300-380 m2/g and a particle diameter of about 7 nm ensures the formation of MoO3 monolayer on the surface of SiO2 core at MoO3 concentration in the range of 20-25 wt.%. A thermodynamic possibility of MoO3 interaction with SiO2 surface has been proved by quantum-chemical modelling.
