It is proved that 1/10 LD50 of the substances is toxic, 1/100 LD50 is effective, and 1/1000 LD50 is noneffective. The investigated polyethers were characterized by a polytropic character of their influence on the organism based on impairment in the state of integrative systems and on triggering of adequate cascade reactions. On the 30th day of their influence the investigated group of xenobiotics significantly affected the structural-metabolic state of the liver, resulted in dysfunction of the mono-oxygenase system, activated free-radical reactions against a background of decreased antioxidant reserves, changes in physicochemical properties and phospholipid composition of hepatocyte membranes. In conditions of influence of these substances a neurotoxic action was observed, it being confirmed by a pronounced increase of glutamate and aspartate content in the brain against a background of decreases in GABA and glycine content, an increase of biogenic amine content, an activation of guanylate cyclase messenger system and inhibition of adenylate cyclase one, and a shift of oxidant-antioxidant system towards oxidants. The above polyethers produced an immunotoxic effect, causing changes in indices of specific and nonspecific resistance and development of secondary immune deficiency.
