In this way all data were obtained concerning the plasma density, which are given in the report. Modernization of the crankshaft antenna in order to improve the reliability of plasma production was carried out. Before that this antenna could produce plasma only at high electric voltages. Modernization was to expand of crankshaft modulation of the central strap. Expanding modulation led to a change of the strap design because the strap could no longer be put into in the installation through the existing pipe. The upgraded antenna was installed and tested in the setup. The toroidal field coil №6 of Uragan-2M has been switched off , so the hybrid configuration stellarator-mirror (open trap) could be created. Search the satisfactory operation regime has been carried out changing the pressure of the neutral gas and the magnetic system parameter kfi (ratio of the toroidal magnetic field induced by the helical winding to the full toroidal field). In the range kfi=0.24-0.32 plasma is not produced. Reliable plasma production was registered at lower kfi, and dense plasma is build-up at different pressures of the neutral gas. This is consistent with results of previous theoretical calculations. Also, the heating of the plasma electrons was recorded using soft X-ray emission and analysis of carbon impurities CV optical emission.
