Objective: Development of new methods for remote identification of artificial and natural disturbances of regolith layer during the NASA space mission Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO). Obtaining new data on the structure, optical and physical properties of the lunar surface using high-resolution data. Research methods and instruments: For treatment of the available photometric data (primary cosmic and telescopic images) authors of the project created algorithms and programs that were previously tested by comparing the calculation results with the known cases. The authors have created interpretive framework for analyzing lunar photometric data with the help of theoretical modeling. In particular, the project authors developed theoretical models of light scattering by rough regolith-like surfaces. Project Results: The estimation of the extent and magnitude of changes in the structure of the lunar surface as a result of both natural and anthropogenic factors. For this assessment, orbital photometry of high resolution in conjunction with the method of phase relatios are used. It is now possible to evaluate the surface roughness of the light scattering element on the scale of image resolution. It is proved that this method enables the photometric interpretation of images of the lunar surface in terms of its roughness. We show that using the method it is possible to identify the remote places of repose of the soil and areas of impact melt. The reliability of the new method is proved by photometric detection of anomalies associated with changes in the structure of the surface layer of regolith in places documented the impact of human activity on the Moon's regolith. Innovation, efficiency of implementation: As a result of the project it became possible photometric detection of anomalies of artificial or natural origin. Now one can estimate the size of the impact of future human activity on the primordial surface of atmosphereless cosmic bodies. The practical value of the project lies in the fact that the maps and distributions of variations of photometric function of the lunar surface have been created. These maps will be used in the analysis of the influence of cosmogenic and other factors that lead to disturbances of the regolith surface roughness and local changes in the regolith. Now it is possible, in particular, the remote identification of areas of formation of new craters, fall of small comets or meteoroid streams on the lunar surface. Scope (industry) use: The results obtained in the project data can be used in the planning and implementation of space missions to the Moon and other atmosphereless bodies of the Solar system. Research was carried out in the project have a direct connection with the tasks of the national scientific and technical space program of Ukraine and will contribute to its successful implementation. Implementation of the project will allow Ukraine to take its rightful place in the international division of labor in the industry planetological research.
