Aim: definition of the factors, which influence on biofiltration processes efficiency through BAC layer the solutions of natural and synthetic matters; production and study of new carbon sorbent. Methods: the study of adsorption equilibrium and dynamics, physico-chemical, microbiological investigations. The main results: it is shown that BAC exhibits high efficiency to extract the phenol derivatives in during long term. It is established that modification of activated carbon by ferric oxide enhances of biofilm development and activity under permanent stage of purification. It is shown that long term filtration of fulvic acid solutions through BAC layer provides of effective extraction of total organic carbon (TOC) from solution owing to extraction of biologically available organic carbon (BAOC). Increasing of BAOC in fulvic acid solution by intermediate ozonation considerably prolongs of the adsorption filters operation. The pilot models of devices for drinking water purification are made and their efficiency is shown for production of high-quality drinking water.
