The aim of the work is examination and description of identity, quality and cost features of precious, semiprecious and collection stones that are found in the south areas of Ukraine, study of their consumer properties, formation of database that comprises their individual features, locations and geological structure of deposits and occurrences. Generalization of databases of deposits and occurrences of precious, semiprecious and collection stone from south, as well as north, central, east, and western areas of Ukraine, creation of map- chart of their locations. Research methods are analytical review of the information collected from the printed and electronic sources, from Internet, visual and instrumental gemmological study of samples of precious, semiprecious and collection stones from private collections and collection of the museum of Institute of geochemistry, mineralogy and ore-formation of NAS of Ukraine. At current stage of the work identity, quality and cost features of precious, semiprecious and collection stones from south of Ukraine are considered. Their texture - coloristic features, treatability are described and the perspective ways of their practical use are set. The database of deposits and occurrences of precious, semiprecious and collection stones from south areas is set up. On a basis of the results of previous stages of work a map-chart that displays a location of deposits and occurrences of precious (semiprecious) stones of Ukraine is created. The results of research work are to be introduced at State Gemmological Centre of Ukraine in order to optimize and improve the evaluation of precious and semiprecious stone of Ukraine procedure, provision with consultations and explanations regarding 15 Section 2 in Law of Ukraine "On the State Regulation of Mining, Production and Usage of Precious Metals and Precious Stones and Control Over Related Transactions" on the 18th of November 1997 №637/97-Parl., and Paragraph 2 in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine resolution on 7th of September 1993 №713 "Establishment of State Gemmological Centre of Ukraine".
