Subject of the research: diffusion processes in the coal molecular structure and microphysical radiation emanation processes in radon and its decay products at intensified process of the rock destruction around the mine workings. Purpose of the research: reveal the basic non-traditional factors leading to methane emissions and explosions during mining operations in the coal mines in order to provide safety for the coal mines and improve coal competitiveness in the energy balance and in economy of Ukraine and Russia. Research methods: analysis of the literature, laboratory and in-field experimental studies of physical laws of the rock destruction and emanation of radon and its decay products in the mine workings. Scientific importance of work includes establishing of non-traditional factors which regulate behaviour of a gas-dynamic phenomenon occurred during the mining operations in the coal mines. The factors include: sorption parameters of the coal substance microstructure; radiation emanation of radon and its decay products; presence of wave and rotational mechanisms and microplasma effects in the massif, and make possible to estimate and control gas-dynamic state of the coal bed. A diagnostic criterion of geodynamic risk was established on the basis of calculated fractal dimension and the Hurst exponent for seismological observations, which can be an indicator of the massif proneness to self-destruction. The findings can be used for estimating gas-dynamic risks in the rock massif at underground coal mining in order to increase mine productivity and ensure safe working conditions.
