Monophase pyrochlore Gd2Zr2O7 was synthesized by solid-phase reactions at 1450 °C and exposure time under pressure conditions for 2 hours, and also, by co-precipitation at 1150 °C and exposure time of 1 hour. Pyrochlore ceramic samples obtained by hot pressing in a vacuum at 1450 ° C and pressure 50 MPa during exposure time for 1 hour, were characterized by homogeneous microstructure with a grain size of 1.0-1.5 microns (in the case of solid phase synthesis) and ~ 1.0 micron (for co-precipitation components method). The maximum density of the sample materials obtained by the method of solid phase synthesis and co-precipitation of initial components was 95.27% and 99%, respectively. The resulting pyrochlore ceramics has high mechanical strength (bending strength ? > 300 MPa), high corrosion properties (leaching rate V = 5 ? 10-8 g / cm2 · per day) and can be proposed as the perspective matrix material for immobilization of the actinide fractions of high-level waste.
