Diffusion layers arised in single crystals of lithium niobate during their high temperature reduced-oxidized thermochemical treatments are studied by optical methods and they can be used to create waveguide structures. Calculations of the composition of fluxes for dissolution of LN were made and the substrates of the LN single crystals were prepared and studied for experiments on the growing of doped LiNbO3 films by the method of liquid-phase epitaxy to create waveguide and photonic structures based on these materials. Part of the results obtained during the implementation phase, published in the proceedings of the International Workshop on Lithium Niobate, Tianjin, China in November 2015.
