Atmospheric blocking is one of the main forms of the meridional circulation, which interrupt westerlies in mid-latitudes, persist for a long time and causes large anomalies of meteorological parameters and significant number of the dangerous weather events. Specified seasonal features of atmospheric blocking intensity, frequency and duration in the Atlantic and continental sectors of the first synoptic region. Change of this parameters and its significance estimated. Revealed correlation between frequency and duration of the atmospheric blocking and the frequency of dangerous weather events. Allocated regions in Ukraine where the influence of atmospheric blocking appears to be the strongest. Specified the contribution of the atmospheric blocking to the frequency of dangerous weather events, estimated its change and significance of this change in the last two decades and revealed regional and seasonal features. For each region of Ukraine specified typical blocking processes, which causes positive and negative anomalies of temperature and precipitation. Developed methodology of climatic atmospheric blocking monitoring, created climatic monitoring system and digital atlas of blocking processes. Atlas contains characteristics of 250 blocking episodes, occurred in 1979-2013. Performed analysis of weather conditions in the Northern hemisphere and in Ukraine in 2011-2013. Specified key features of thermal and moisture regime, atmospheric circulation and the frequency of dangerous weather events in Ukraine for each year. Calculated the rank of meteorological parameters and its anomaly for each year and each region.
