The object of the research is a life strategy of modern Ukrainian youth. The subject of the research is the place and the role of the family in life strategy of modern Ukrainian youth. The purpose of the research is to define the place and the role of the institute of family in life strategy of modern Ukrainian youth, as well as to elaborate recommendations for the improvement of the basic principles of the state family policy which will be aimed at increasing of prestige of the full, officially registered family. The goals of the research: - To carry out the theoretical and methodological analysis of modern concepts of life strategy and to clarify the essence of the concept "life strategy of youth"; - To allocate and describe the key features of modern social and demographic position of the Ukrainian family; - To develop and test an approach to the typologization of life strategy of modern Ukrainian youth; - To clarify the particularities of family orientations of youth, and to describe the image of future family as perceived by modern youth; - To describe the structure of family and reproductive orientations in the system of life values of the youth; - To reveal the age, regional and social and psychological orientations in the system of life values of modern youth; The main results of research. The modern approaches to the definition of concepts of life strategy of the personality has been conducted; the research has defined the essence of the concept of "life strategy of youth" as well as the modern approaches to the technique of studying the life orientations of youth; the social and demographic position of families in Ukraine has been studied. When determining the main demographic and social and economic problems of modern institute of family the methods of the structural analysis, generalization and synthesis were applied. The results of the previous researches were used. The social and demographic characteristics of the institute of family in the circumstances of socio-political transformations were generalized and systematized. The major factors and problems which stir the stability of marriages and hamper the increase of birth rate in the country were defined. Following its objectives, the research has carried out the theoretical and methodological analysis of modern concepts of life strategy. The essence of the concept of "life strategy of youth" was revealed. The scope of the notion of "life strategy" has been defined. It is emphasized that the rise of the interest for the theme of life strategy of youth is due, in the first place, to the growing variety of channels and ways of entry of youth into adulthood. The results of the research in the long term will help overcome the demographic and social and economic crisis, and will facilitate the increase of quality of the human capital of the country. The analysis of family orientations of the population is carried out. The modern approaches to the definition of the concept of "life strategy" are defined and generalized. The particularities of life strategy of the modern young people are described; its main components are defined. The conceptual approaches to the formation of value of family in the hierarchical system of values of teenagers and youth are defined. The recommendations on the modernization of the state family policy taking into account the features of the system of values of modern youth are developed. A strategic objective for the modernized family policy in Ukraine should be the promotion of a full family and preparation of youth for the creation of their own family. The results of the research were used in the preparation of Annual state report on the state of families in Ukraine following the results of years 2010-2013.
