The direct and inverse problems of nondestructive determining axisymmetric residual stresses in the neighborhood of annular welded junction in a long cylindrical pipeline have been solved on the basis of empirical data obtained using the magnetoelastic method. The calculation of stressed state of pipeline with internal inclusions under torque loading has been carried out using the direct cutting method. The obtained results are important from the point of view of strength assessment, reliability and remaining life of oil and gas pipelines. These results can be used, in particular, in gas industry.
