Objectives - determination of the fundamentals of carbonization of domestic and biological wastes in coal and catalytic conversion of volatile. Methods of research - standard methods for solid fuel research and new methods for assessment of carbonization, catalytic conversion of volatile, coal gasification, and CO2 fixation processes. The production of solid fuels from solid organic waste (onionskin and bottom sludge from Bortnichi activated sludge plant in Kyiv) was investigated at the modified installation for solid organic waste carbonization. The new solid fuels (SF) from organic waste to produce hydrogen were created and studied. Calcium hydroxide (CH) was used as a source of steam for the conversion of SF and lime to fix carbon dioxide and as a catalyst for the conversion of volatile matters. The mixture of wood (W) and polystyrene (PS) (50/50% /%) was impregnated with water solution of calcium hydroxide and dried. Composition of dry SF after drying before carbonization, wt. %: C - 13.8, Ca - 43.5, H - 3,5, OH - 39,0, N - 0,1, Ad - 0.04. The composition of the total obtained gas after carbonization of the mixture of W-PS and CH, vol. %: H2 - 39.4, CO - 6.0, CH4 - 4,6, CO2 - 0,1, CnHm - 49,9. Composition SF from waste wood, polypropylene (PP) (50/50% /%), and CH after drying before carbonization, wt. %: C - 12.6, Ca - 43.2, H - 4.0, OH - 38.8, N - 0.1, Aa - 1.12, Wa - 0.3. The composition of the total obtained gas after carbonization of the mixture of waste wood, polypropylene (50/50 %/%) and calcium hydroxide, vol. %: H2 - 47.6, CO - 12.6, CH4 - 8.0, CO2 - 0.7, CnHm - 31.1. The degree of CO2 fixation is 93.52%. The new nanostructured Fe- and Ni-catalysts of o volatile conversion of L.V. Pysarzhevsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of NAS of Ukraine were used to increase the yield of hydrogen during the conversion of the mixture of W, PP and CH. The addition of 10 wt.% of Fe-catalyst in the mixture of wood, polypropylene, and lime resulted in an increase in the concentration of hydrogen in the obtained gas by 12 vol.% to 61.6 vol.%. The addition of 10 wt.% Ni-catalyst in the mixture of wood, polypropylene, and lime resulted in obtaining technical hydrogen. Product Description popup.authors Дудник О. М.
