Aim of the project - ascertaining regularities of processes of adsorption and catalytic deactivation of sulfur dioxide and the effect of the latter on the activity of the metal-complex catalyst for carbon monoxide activation at the high air humidity and the toxicant concentration not exceeding 15 MPC (150 mg/m3 for SO2 and 300 mg/m3 for СО): developing a method for low-temperature air purification from sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide in devices for personal respiratory protection. The following methods were applied in the research: X-ray phase analysis, thermogravimetry, pH-metry, IR spectroscopy, the dynamic method of sulfur dioxide sorption, and the kinetic method of carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide oxidation. The influence of the phase composition, phase ratio, and crystallinity of different groups of Ukrainian natural adsorbents, zeolites and dispersed silicas (tripoli), on their structural-adsorption, physicochemical, and protective properties in respect of sulfur dioxide have been found. A chemosorbent consisting of available and cheap materials (tripoli, sodium hydroxide, and hexamethylenetetramine) for sulfur dioxide elimination has been developed. The kinetics of sulfur dioxide deactivation by compositions containing copper chloride or nitrate or sulfate and supports: clinoptilolite, natural or modified, or natural tripoli has been studied. The data on kinetic, stoichiometric, and protective properties of these compositions on conditions that they be used in devices for personal respiratory protection have been obtained. The optimal catalyst composition for sulfur dioxide deactivation has been found out and a project of its technical specifications has been prepared. The protective parameters of the catalyst for low-temperature monoxide oxidation (TU U24.6-02071091-002:2010) in the presence of sulfur dioxide have been evaluated. Practical guidelines concerning the use of two-stage air purification from sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide have been suggested. Product Description popup.authors Кіосе Т.О.
