Topics of the study are the main characteristics of aquatic ecosystems and greenhouse gasses emission flows in the deltaic part of the Dnister. Aim of the work has been to study the levels of the main greenhouse gasses within the system 'soils - atmosphere' in the pilot area in the Dnister Delta basin and to assess the impact of agricultural activities and fires on the Dnister Delta ecosystems. Using the methods of environmental objects sampling and analysis, which have been recommended in Ukraine and in the EU, sampling and analyses of atmospheric depositions, soils and waters in the Lower Dnister basin have been organized, atmospheric flows of nutrient compounds assessed, balance of nitrogen compounds in the Dnister deltaic part calculated, dynamics of nitrogen stock in the black soils in the basin and greenhouse gases secondary emission calculated. Two annual surveys have been organised in the Lower Dnister and Dnister Liman area. New equipment has been introduced, new methods of the major greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, ozone, nitrogen oxides, water vapour) monitoring implemented, as well as regular sampling of atmospheric depositions, soils and water in the basin of the Dnister deltaic part. Levels of greenhouse gases' emission flows and the composition of atmospheric depositions in the Lower Dnister basin have been established. Influence of agricultural activities on greenhouse gases emission and flows of respective compounds into the Dnister Delta water-bodies have been revealed. Using space images areas of fires have been determined. Impact of the fires on the state of ecosystems in the Dnister Delta and the Dnister Liman has been established. Recommendations for the Lower Dnister basin monitoring system improvement have been developed. Experience of greenhouse gases flows measurement has been generalised, guidance manual for greenhouse gasses measurement technology implementation prepared.
