Purpose - to develop new methods for the metallization of fullerene and synthesis of exohedral metallofullerenes, study their composition, structure and magnetic properties. Methods of research - organic synthesis, elemental analysis, scanning microscopy, energy dispersive analysis, IR spectroscopy, magnetometry. The new method of exohedral metallofullerenes synthesis was developed. It means in the interaction of C60 molecules with "hot" transition-metal atoms, generated in situ by reduction of inorganic transition metal salt with sodium borohydride in the presence of phase transfer catalyst (crown ether) was suggested, and with use of organic solvents (benzene, toluene). The synthesis of metallofullerenes is accompanied by partial hydrogenation of the fullerene's cage. Obtained metal-carbon materials have paramagnetic properties and can be used in electric and chemical industry as catalysts of redox and isomerization processes.
