Peculiarities of the migration, localization and distribution of the methane in coal-rock massifs of Donetsk and Lviv-Volyn coal-field basins have been established. The use of their results as one of the prerequisites for assessment of the potential gas presence in the worked-out coal-rock massif (by the complex of lithological-petrographic, petrophysical and mineralofluidological data) has been suggested.
